How to Play

There are three areas on the screen:

Building Stacks

The building stacks are at the bottom half of the screen. The leftmost stack has one card, with each subsequent stack having an additional card. Only the top card of each stack is face up. Removing the top card from a stack will turn over the card below it.

The Deck

The deck is located in the top left corner of the screen and contains the cards, which are not found in the source stacks. Three cards are initially removed and placed to the right of the deck with their face up. The top card of those three can be moved to another stack. Clicking on the deck will turn over the next three cards (if there are at least three cards remaining in the deck). If there are no more cards to go through in the deck, clicking on the outline of the deck will begin another pass through the deck. The number of passes through the deck is unlimited is three in most casinos. Suit Stacks. The suit stacks are located in the upper right corner and are initially unoccupied. An ace can be moved to its suit stack and then cards are added in ascending rank according to suit.

Game Play

  • A card at the top of a stack can be moved to its corresponding suit stack if the rank of the card at the top of that stack is one less than the card's rank (Kings have a rank of 13, queens 12, jacks 11 and an ace has a rank of 1).
  • A king can be moved to an empty space.
  • A card can be moved from the deck, a suit stack, or a building stack to a source stack if the card at the top of the destination stack has a different colour from and a value one more than the card.
  • Ordered cards at the bottom of a building stack can be moved to another building stack if there is a card in the ordered sequence which has a different colour and a rank one less than the card at the top of the destination stack.

Different types of Game

A player has the choice of either drawing one card from the deck at a time and only going through the deck once, or they can draw three cards at a time but may only play the top card of the draw. If a player opts for the three-card draw they are also allowed to go through the deck three times.

How much can I win?

Winning payoffs are based on how many cards you successfully place in the suit stacks by the end. According to your initial stake it usually takes about 11 cards being successfully place in the suit stacks before a profit is shown. After this every card up to the 52 is sheer profit, which can be quite a handsome rewards.

Casino Strategy for Solitaire

Basic Stratey

Solitaire is a difficult game to complete; often there is few things the player can do about the deal of the cards. However here are some helpful strategy tips, which if followed should produce optimum results.

Deal once at the start

Every revealed card is a strength, giving you more information on which to base your choices. It never hurts and sometimes helps for your first move to be to deal.

Play higher cards first

It's more important to organize your lower-ranked cards than your higher-ranked ones, because the lower ones block the higher ones. Playing the higher cards first may give you more options for organizing the lower cards later on.

Don't mix suits

It's best to "braid" your builds in paired suits, because then you can send entire builds to the foundations together if you have to. But give this tip a low priority, and follow it only when you actually have a choice of suits.

Preserve your options

Don't make a play unless there's an immediate benefit to doing so. Later on you might find that you'd prefer a different play.

Reduce disorder and expose cards

Expose and make available as many cards as you can, and minimize the number of cards that aren't in neat, orderly builds.

Don't be greedy

Don't play a card to the foundations if it still has a potential use in the building stacks.

Late Stages in the game

When you're sure you have only another card or two to play then go for building up the foundations. Having only two or three cards left in the deck means you probably won?t get much building done, therefore you'll be better off just playing up every card you can. This tip is also useful for improving your score in a game you expect to lose.

Hopefully these tips will improve your score, but the main point to realise is that in the long run playing every available card immediately is not the best policy. Who knows they may even contribute into completing the game, good luck?
