Playing at online casinos on mobile phones has been tipped by one expert as the next big thing this week.
According to the Remote Gambling Association (RGA), although it is difficult to predict how big this trend will get, as technology improves the industry expects mobile phone gameplay to be a big market.
Brian Wright, business director at the RGA, said: "Revenues are going up but there have been some huge predictions about billions of pounds of revenue.
"As telephone technology develops, products will increase and they will become far more user-friendly. Mobile will be the next big area."
He added that already people can do "amazing things on phones" as the internet has become more readily available on handsets.
The Gambling Commission reported earlier this year that 8.8 per cent of people it polled in March this 2008 had participated in remote gaming.
Furthermore, gaming on a laptop was the most popular form of remote gaming (7.1 per cent) and mobile phone activity came in second (2.4 per cent).
