Internet poker is creating a "new buzz" in casinos
Playing poker online at websites such as Paddy Power is creating a "new buzz" in casinos, one expert has said.

According to Casino Review Magazine, in the US a new generation of players are heading for casinos after learning the game and honing their skills in online poker rooms.

Phil Martin, editor of Casino Review magazine, said: "In the US there's been an influx of a new generation of players that have learnt how to play online before going into the poker tournaments in casinos."

He added that any downturn in business that casinos are experiencing is, in his opinion, not to do with the emergence of online gaming sites.

According to research carried out by the Gambling Commission, 7.1 per cent of adults report having taken part in online gambling in the 12 months leading up to March 31st 2008.

This figure marks a 6.9 per cent rise compared with the previous year.
