British punters are still betting on Euro 2008 despite the fact that neither England or Scotland are in the event, one expert has said.
Online gaming sites such as Ladbrokes and William Hill, which also have internet casino facilities, are offering gambling fans the chance to have a flutter on the other contending teams they think will win.
Nick Weinberg, a spokesperson for Ladbrokes, said: "British punters they see all these Premier League footballers, so there's a great awareness of European football and European teams now."
He added that this means that football fans have the knowledge to back someone like Fernando Torres as a potential top scorer as they have watched him in action in the Premier League.
Mr Weinberg concluded that there is now a "greater comprehension" of the strengths and weaknesses of European football teams.
In related news, Ladbrokes Casino has released a number of new games for fans of online casinos to enjoy this month.
On June 7th its new Bomber Girls Slot game was launched along with the Days of Tsar and Lucky Shot slot games.
