Norwegians are going crazy for online casinos and other forms of internet-based betting, new research has revealed.
According to the Norwegian Gambling Commission, gaming on the internet grew by 6.1 per cent in Norway in 2007 with players in the country spending $1.4 billion (£0.7 billion) during the year.
Furthermore, the commission has revealed that the vast majority of this spending went to foreign operators, such as 888 or Ladbrokes Casino.
The most popular choice with the 244,000 Norwegians who were gambling online was the state lottery, which accounted for 48 per cent of gamers.
Poker sites came in second place with 28 per cent of the market while online sports betting took another 27 per cent.
