Poker players honing their skills in online casinos still want to win the World Series of Poker, one expert has said this week.
According to UK magazine PokerPlayer, although online casinos such as William Hill and Paddy Power are popular with gambling fans the prestigious World Series is where poker pros can make their name.
Dave Woods, editor-in-chief at the magazine, said: "It's the big one and the one that's guaranteed to make you a household name."
He added that the HORSE tournament is another "prestigious" poker event, largely due to the $50,000 (£25,000) buy in which means that only the elite and wealthy can take part.
The 2008 World Series of Poker main event will take place this year between July 3rd and 14th at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
However, the event has a $10,000 buy in, meaning many poker players will be sticking to online casinos where they can play for far less.
