A casino in Mississippi has been ordered to close its doors temporarily due to the passing of Hurricane Gustav.
Isle of Capri Casino in Natchez was deemed to be too close to the water by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, which led to the body issuing a command for it to shut.
Tony Scudiero, vice president and general manager, commented: "Our hotel, which is not located on the water, remains open. We are taking all safety precautions and encourage our guests and employees to seek shelter in a safe area."
Experts at the National Hurricane Centre predict that Hurricane Gustav is due to hit the coast of the US at midday local time on September 1st, reports the BBC.
The winds, which could reach up to 115 mph and cause 14-ft waves, will hit the southern states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas.
New Orleans, which was ravaged by flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina on August 29th 2005, has enforced a curfew during the hours of darkness and 7,000 of the Louisiana National Guard have been dispatched to enforce it.
