Those who gamble at online casinos and poker sites may be the "players to watch out for" in this season's European Poker Tour (EPT).
Alan Bowden, editor of InsidePoker magazine, claims that online qualifiers may end up becoming a "key component" during the Tour, which started in Barcelona yesterday.
Time and dedication is given to honing skills at online casinos, he stated.
"There are 18 or 19-year-old guys who qualified online who dedicate their whole lives to playing poker for ten hours and constantly improving their game online," the editor remarked.
EPT participants qualify either online or through playing at land-based casinos. The competition has grown in size every season, with player numbers and cash prizes increasing each time.
Some 2,009 players took part in season two of the EPT, while this grew to 3,481 in season three and 5,902 last time around. Mr Bowden predicted these numbers could grow again this year.
