Connectivity is one of the main points of consideration if the mobile gaming industry is to move forward, according to one gambling expert.
Jake Pollard, editor of business-to-business magazine EGaming Review, said that the success of gaming on mobile phones, which includes poker, casino and bingo offerings, depends on a number of factors.
"If you're on the train and get cut off or lose connection for whatever reason ... that's not going to make you inclined to repeat the experience," he explained.
Mobile gaming would also benefit from greater numbers of people having better access to handsets that offer broadband, Mr Pollard added.
UK regulatory body the Gambling Commission released results of a remote gambling survey earlier this year.
It found that of the people who had gambled up to March 2008, just 2.4 per cent had done so on their mobile phone's WAP/internet or SMS services.
A conclusion was made that this was a low number of gamers.
