The sixth WPT World Championship 2008 has taken place in Las Vegas this week.
Around 545 players competed for the £6.6 million of prize money, in what is one of the biggest poker tournaments in the world, reports UK Gambling Online.
Chinese player David Chiu has won the tournament, after coming back from a set back to defeat Gus Hansen and netting himself £1.7 million in the process.
David Chiu told PokerListings.com: "This is best win so far. I have four World Series of Poker bracelets and a Tournament of Champions title but this one is the best I've had so far."
In related news, a Greek player scooped $1.5 million (£0.7 million) while playing on Sportingbet.com earlier this month.
The payout to K Vasileiadis is thought to be the largest ever made by an online gambling site to a Greek player, though he has not yet come forward to comment on his win.
